John Lysaker, Professor of Philosophy at Emory University, is the author of Emerson and Self-Culture (Indiana, 2008), and You Must Change Your Life: Poetry, Philosophy, and the Birth of Sense (Penn State, 2002).  He is also the co-author of Schizophrenia and the Fate of the Self(Oxford, 2008), and co-editor of Emerson and Thoreau: Figures of Friendship (Indiana, 2010).  Working across American and Continental traditions, his work concerns issues in philosophical psychology, social and political philosophy, and the philosophy of art, with a particular focus on the nature of human being and those forces that contribute to and/or undermine its flourishing.  He is currently at work on a book of meta-philosophical essays titled Where Do We Find Ourselves?
