Desiree Valentine

Graduate Assistant

Biography:

Desiree is a dual title Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy and Women’s Studies. Her areas of research include feminist philosophy, critical philosophy of race, ethics, and queer theory. Her dissertation focuses on the intersection of queer theory and studies of race and racism—particular the notion of ‘mixed race’—in the U.S. As an undergraduate student, she  had the pleasure of participating in PIKSI and is very happy to return this summer as a graduate assistant. PIKSI is a wonderful opportunity for participants to engage in sustained, critical dialogue on transformative areas of philosophy and she am excited to be a part of this year’s experience!
