Education:

  1. B.A. in philosophy from The Honors College at The University of Maine
  2. Ph.D. from Purdue University

Biography:

Jonathan Beever is a Post-Doctoral Fellow with The Rock. He received A B.A. in philosophy from The Honors College at The University of Maine and his Ph.D. from Purdue University in December 2012 after defending a dissertation on the nature and justification of moral value in the context of environmental ethics.  Jonathan's work focuses on ethical issues in the natural sciences, engineering, and the environment: the intersections of which he collects under the term "ecological ethics." He works regularly with scientists in both grant-writing and collaborative educational settings, building a network of connections among and across disciplines. At Penn State, Jonathan will continue his work related to ecological ethics while advancing the work of The Rock, building sustainable connections for ethics in science.
