Robert L. Caserio's scholarship focuses on the history of the novel, theories of narrative, and gay and lesbian literary traditions. Most recently he is the editor of The Cambridge Companion to the Twentieth-Century English Novel(2009),and is co-editor, with Clement Hawes, of The Cambridge History of the English Novel (forthcoming, 2012). He is the author of Plot, Story, and the Novel: from Dickens and Poe to the Modern Period, and of The Novel in England 900-1950: History and Theory. The latter volume in 2000 won a George and Barbara Perkins Prize, awarded by the International Society for the Study of Narrative for the previous year's best study of narrative.
