Tugce B. Arda Tuncdemir is from Turkey and she is a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction Department, emphasis on Early Childhood Education at Penn State. She completed her undergraduate degree program at Hacettepe University in Turkey and received her M.S. degree from Ege University emphasis on Early Childhood Education. From 2010 to 2013, she worked in Ege University’s Department of Early Childhood Education as a graduate assistant while completing her master’s degree, with emphasis in Social & Emotional Development in Early childhood. Her master thesis entitled ‘Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies-PATHS- Preschool Program on Preschool Children’s Social Development’ examines the Preschool PATHS program which focuses on social and emotional education for younger children. During her master’s degree, she was a visiting scholar at Penn State's Human Development and Family Studies Department for two semesters working with Dr. Mark Greenberg where she had the opportunity to observe and do the research in State College preschools. Currently, she is working with Michael Burroughs and the Ethics Education initiative. Her research areas are social and emotional development, play, creative-educational drama and museum literacy. She also likes cooking and dancing!
