Lack of departmental diversity may challenge police trust and legitimacy, REI assistant director Ben Jones tells the Centre Daily Times

With no Black officers and otherwise limited diversity on police departments in Centre County, Pennsylvania, (home to Penn State's University Park campus) assistant director of the Rock Ethics Institute Ben Jones says those departments can face significant challenges.

There are five police departments that serve Centre County, Pennsylvania, home to State College and Penn State's University Park campus. There are no Black officers on any of the forces, and there are few other officers who identify as a race other than white.

In an interview with the Centre Daily Times, assistant director of the Rock Ethics Institute Ben Jones says such a lack of diversity in the departments can present significant challenges.
