Remembering María Lugones

Remembering María Lugones

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — One of the world’s leading philosophers, María Lugones of Binghamton University, passed away in July 2020. Lugones was a pioneer with her research on race, gender, and colonialism.

A number of Rock Ethics Institute faculty had the great privilege to know and work with Professor Lugones, and we as an Institute are deeply saddened by her death.

Along with many campus partners, the Rock Ethics Institute had the honor to host a conference dedicated to her in May 2018, “Toward Decolonial Feminisms: A Conference Inspired by the Work of María Lugones.”

To learn more about her work, please click on the image below for interviews with Professor Lugones and others  from the conference. (Link will take you to YouTube.)
