Remembering María Lugones

María Lugones, one of the world's leading philosophers, passed away earlier this year. A pioneer with her research on race, gender, and colonialism, a number of Rock Ethics Institute faculty had the great privilege to know and work with Professor Lugones. The Rock Ethics Institute and its Penn State partners had the honor of hosting a conference dedicated to Lugones in May 2018, and we have compiled interviews here with her and other participants from that conference.

One of the world's leading philosophers, María Lugones of Binghamton University, passed away in July. Lugones was a pioneer with her research on race, gender, and colonialism.

A number of Rock Ethics Institute faculty had the great privilege to know and work with Professor Lugones, and we as an Institute are deeply saddened by her death.

Along with many campus partners, the Rock Ethics Institute had the honor to host a conference dedicated to her in May 2018, “Toward Decolonial Feminisms: A Conference Inspired by the Work of María Lugones.”
