Biography

Beatrice "Bea" Krauss is an emerita professor of urban public health at Hunter College and the City University of New York School of Public Health, where she also directed the Center for Community and Urban Health. A behavioral scientist and public health researcher, she has led more than forty HIV-related projects funded by private, city, state, national, and international agencies. Krauss has published extensively on HIV prevention and adjustment to HIV in highly affected communities, as well as on field research methods and the dissemination of evidence-based interventions. Her NIH-funded Parent/Preadolescent Training for HIV Prevention project has been implemented in the United States and adapted for use in India and Mexico. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and volunteers as a therapeutic harpist for hospice care.
